ADAM
MATNEY,
70 years of age of Hurley, VA, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2011 from
injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born in Buchanan County, he
was the son of the late Wiley and Westiny Branham Matney. He was a lifelong
resident of Buchanan County and was a member of Knox Creek Church of God. He
was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and was a retired Coal
Miner.
Mr. Matney is
survived by his wife of 45-years, Alice Fay Mullins Matney, Hurley, VA,
2-Daughters: Loretta and husband Roy Stanley, Kingsport, TN, Tiny and
husband Randy Seavey, Elk Creek, VA, 2-Sons: Victor and wife Teresa Matney,
Oakwood, VA, Rodney Matney, Hurley, VA, 2-Sisters: Ada and husband John
Blankenship, Hurley, VA, Eve and husband Frankie Roberts, Bassett, VA,
1-Brother: Daniel and wife Opal Matney, Panther, WV
Also, survived by
5-Grandchildren: Branson Burks, Tristine Burks, Joshua Matney, Selena Matney
and Hustus Matney; and several Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded
in death by 3-Sisters: Margaret Branham, Dennie Branham, Nadine Matney; and
8-Brothers: Harlis, Daniel, Dewey, Chaney, Charlie, Stewart, Arnold and
Branson Matney.
Funeral Services for
ADAM MATNEY will be conducted
Friday, July 22, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Knox Creek Church of God on the
Left Fork of Main Knox, near Hurley, VA, with Revs. Henry Rowe and Willard
Grizzle officiating with burial to follow in the Matney Cemetery on Lick
Branch on the Right Fork of Guesses Fork, Hurley, VA.
Friends may call
at the Knox Creek Church of God Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 P.M. with
services Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 7:00 P.M.
