ALICE RUTH STILTNER BLANKENSHIP YATES, 70 years of age of the Harman Section of Grundy, VA, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 30, 2008 at the Buchanan General Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Dave and Chloe Slone Stiltner. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church #1. Mrs. Yates was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and worked as a Store Clerk and Caregiver.

Mrs. Yates was preceded in death by her first husband: Jim Bob Blankenship, March 1978, and is survived by her second husband: Vady Yates of Grundy, VA.

She is survived by 2-Sons: Preacher Jim Bob Jr. and wife Lisa Blankenship, Grundy, VA, Richard Dean and wife Lisa Blankenship, Dickson, TN, 4-Sisters: Brenda and husband Harley Crawford, Dickson, TN, Lucy and husband Jim Dudley, Dickson, TN, Rachel Clark, Warren, MI, Julia and husband Dave Poland, Grundy, VA, 2-Step-Children: Shelly Yates, Greensboro, NC, Michael Yates, Whitewood, VA

Also, survived by 4-Grandchildren: Derek Blankenship, Amanda Blankenship, Kayla Blankenship, Abigale Blankenship; 1-Great-Grandchild: Shawn Blankenship; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 2-Sisters: Gaynell Stiltner, Leon Spahr; and 9-Brothers: Leonard, Harman, Amos, Ralph, Hassell, Lawrence, Jack, John and Fred Stiltner.

Funeral Services for ALICE RUTH STILTNER BLANKENSHIP YATES will be conducted Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at the Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church #1 with Elders: Frank Newsome, Harvey Creech, James McClanahan, David O’Quinn and Eddie Newsome officiating with burial to follow in the Frank Stiltner Cemetery, Poplar Creek Section of Grundy, VA.

Friends may call al the Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church #1 Sunday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services Sunday and Monday evenings at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be: Derek Blankenship, Marty Owens, Radford Rice, James Stump, Daniel Stiltner and Walter Sheets.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dr. J.G. Patel, Tina Compton, Staff of Holston Valley Medical Center, Staff of Buchanan General Hospital and the Staff of Heritage Hall Nursing Home.
