ALTA MAE KEEN HONAKER, 83 years of age of Grundy, VA, passed away Monday, October 6, 2008 at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital, Pikeville, KY, following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late John Arthur and Mahaley Davis Keen. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, graduated from Grundy High School and was a Member of Grundy Baptist Church since September of 1957, where she taught Sunday school and worked in the Nursery. Mrs. Honaker was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, was a Produce Manager for Piggly Wiggly and Food City for 22-Years and was a wonderful Homemaker. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  

Mrs. Honaker was preceded in death by her husband: Jessie Honaker, May 15, 2000.

She is survived by 2-Dauighters: Barbara Honaker Rowlett, Grundy, VA, Lillian Keen, Lutz, FL, 2-Sons: Steve and wife Judy Honaker, Abingdon, VA, Johnny A. and wife Lisa Honaker, Grundy, VA

Also, survived by 6-Grandchildren, 3-Great-Grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by 5-Sisters: Jenny Ratliff, Stella Lester, Ellen Ratliff, Della Stiltner, Sarah Shortridge, 2-Brothers: Milton and Johnny A. Keen, 1-Grandson and 1-Great-Grandson.

Funeral Services for ALTA MAE KEEN HONAKER will be conducted Friday, October 10, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Baptist Church with Brother Donald Tittle and Rick Ellis officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Baptist Church Thursday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Doug Baldwin, Hearl Shortridge, Charlie Perkins, Walley Pritchard, Roger Lester, Charlie Woods, Brian Allen and Curtis Crouse.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Men of the Grundy Baptist Church.
