AMOS EUGENE NICKELS, 74 years of age of the Patterson Section of Oakwood, VA, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN, following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late William and Margie Ellen Ratliff Nickels. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and attended the New Hope Christian Church. He was a loving father, grandfather and was a former employee of Jewell Smokeless Coal Corporation.

Mr. Nickels was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Lee Nickels, August 3, 1993

He is survived by 1-Daughter: Rita and husband Jack Phillips, Oakwood, VA, 2-Sons: Ricky J. and wife Beth Nickels, Raven, VA, Ronald L. and wife Joyce Nickels, Pounding Mill, VA, 1-Sister: Phyllis Jackson, Patterson, VA, 2-Brothers: Tommy and wife Betty Nickels, Grundy, VA, Clyde and wife Faye Nickels, Abingdon, VA

Also, survived by 7-Grandchildren: Zachary Phillips, Courtney Phillips, Rickey Lee Nickels, Shannon Nickels, Rhonda Vandyke, Sherry Blankenship and Jacob Lester; 11-Great-Grandchildren and 2-Step-Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 2-Sisters: Fannie Quinley and Jean Varney; and 2-Brothers: Elmer Nickels and Carl Nickels; and 3-Great-Grandchildren.

Funeral Services for AMOS EUGENE NICKELS will be conducted Friday, January 6, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the New Hope Christian Church with Evg. William L. Neeley and Minister Luther Bowman officiating with burial to follow in the Mullins Cemetery on Beef Hide near Dorton, KY.

Friends may call at the New Hope Christian Church Thursday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
