
AMOS JEAN
COLEMAN,
86 years
of age of the Home Creek section of Buchanan County, passed away Monday, March
8, 2010 at the Clinch Valley Medical Center following an extended illness. Born
in Mingo County, WV, he was a son of the late Everette Shannon Coleman and Flora
May Coleman Stiltner. He was a member of the Poplar Creek Church of Christ and
a member of the United States Armed Forces, having served in the United States
Navy during WW II and with the U. S. Marines as a Pharmacy Mate. While serving
he received the Presidential Unit Citation Blue Star, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign
Ribbons with 3 Stars, America Defense Medal, American Theatre Medal, and the
Good Conduct Medal. He was owner/operator of Coleman’s Photo Studios, and a
merchant with Coleman and Preece General Merchandise. He was a Coal Miner,
Trucker and was the Foreman for Little Rock Coal Company for 17- years. Upon
retirement, he worked with the Buchanan County School System as a maintenance
worker.
Mr. Coleman is survived by his wife, Edna Smith
Coleman, Grundy, VA, 1- Daughter: Becky and her husband Danny Keene, Grundy, VA,
2- Sons: Gary and his wife Carol Coleman, Grundy, VA, Ronald Coleman, Grundy,
VA, 1- Sister: Ruth and her husband Ersel Stanley, Hardy, KY, 3-Grandchildren:
J. C. and his wife Christy Coleman, Winston Salem, NC, Josiah and his wife Amy
Keene, Oakwood, VA, Jessie and her husband Mark Baker, Trinity, NC
Also, survived by 6- Great-Grandsons: Bryson,
Nathan, Zachary, Auston, Cody and Mark
He was preceded in death by 2-Brothers: Karl B.
Coleman and Dr. Everette Shannon Coleman.
Funeral services for AMOS JEAN COLEMAN
will be conducted Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral
Home Chapel with Evg. Raffael Farrow and Evg. Dennis Wimmer officiating with
burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park at Big Rock, VA.
Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home
Chapel Tuesday afternoon at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
Full Military Rites will be conducted at the
cemetery by Members of the Childs Gentry Post #7360 of the Veterans of Foreign
Wars.

Baker, Josiah Keene, J. C. Coleman, David Clevinger, Eddie Hughes, Joe Stanley,
Mike Stanley, Pal Thompson and Lee David Altizer.
