ARTHUR LEE WHITT, 65 years of age of Pilgrims Knob, VA, passed away Wednesday April 29, 2009 at Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN, following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Henry Terry and Mildred Delong Whitt. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was of the Pentecostal Faith. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and was a Coal Miner. Mr. Whitt served as Captain of the Dismal River Rescue Squad for 27-Years, Dog Warden and Special Police Officer for 11-Years.

He is survived by his wife: Margaret Joann Clifton Whitt, Pilgrims Knob, VA, 1-Son: Terry Lee and wife Nancy Belardo Whitt, Pilgrims Knob, VA, 2-Sisters: Shirley Ann Whitt and husband Troy Lester, Pilgrims Knob, VA, Ida May Whitt and husband Garmon Lester, Pilgrims Knob, VA, 1-Brother: Douglas Wayne and wife Regina Whitt, Pilgrims Knob, VA

Also, survived by 2-Granddaughters: Grace Lee Whitt and Stephanie Diane Whitt, 5-Nieces, 5-Nephews, 4-Great-Nieces, 5-Great-Nephews and 2-Step-Great-Nephews.

He was preceded in death by 1-Son: Robert Wayne Whitt, October 28, 1992.

Funeral Services for ARTHUR LEE WHITT will be conducted Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Pentecostal Faith Temple, Whitewood, VA, with Rev. Ancil Childress officiating with burial to follow in the Whitt Cemetery on Drill Mountain, near Oakwood, VA.

Friends may call at the Pentecostal Faith Temple, Whitewood, VA, Friday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Nephews.

Honorary Pallbearers will be C.B. Operators, Rescue Squad and Fire Department Members.
