AVA MURVIL McCLANAHAN, 88 years of age of the Little Prater section of Grundy, Virginia, passed away Saturday March 5, 2011 at the Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness.  Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Allie Colley McClanahan.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, a wonderful homemaker and was of the Old Regular Baptist Faith.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray McClanahan on September 25, 1999.

Mrs. McClanahan is survived by three sons: Thomas Ray McClanahan, Grundy, VA, Michael Kent and his wife Karen McClanahan, Michigan, Jeffrey Alan and his wife Tammy McClanahan, Grundy, VA, One Sister: Eura May Stiltner, Mississippi, Special Nephew: Gary McClanahan, Clintwood, VA

Nine Grandchildren – Michael Ray McClanahan, Adam Wayne McClanahan, Jordan Donald McClanahan, Jonathan Noah McClanahan, Joshua Alan McClanahan, Kaneesa Lynn McClanahan, Anna Marie McClanahan Eirch, Pierce McClanahan Eirch and Shawn Anderson

She is also survived by three Great Grandchildren and several nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ray McClanahan, six sisters – Myrtle Ratliff, Mary Rose, Helen Darnell, Thelma Hurley, Josie McClanahan and Samantha Dawson; two brothers – Charles E. (Johnny) McClanahan and Lonnie McClanahan

Funeral services for AVA MURVIL McCLANAHAN will be conducted Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Elders Billy Campbell, William McClanahan, Jim Bob Blankenship and James McClanahan officiating with burial to follow in the Stiltner Cemetery near the Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church #1 on Poplar Creek, near Grundy, VA

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel after 6:00 P.M. Monday with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Bobby Peck, Joshua McClanahan, Gary McClanahan, Cody McClanahan, Dustin McClanahan, William McClanahan, Greg Heavner and Michael Ray McClanahan.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Sam Bartley, Brian Bartley, Bill Campbell, Adam McClanahan, Jordan McClanahan, and Jonathan McClanahan.
