BESSIE PEARL MATNEY SANSON, 89 years of age of Grundy, VA, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2008 at the Mountain View Nursing Home, Elkhorn City, KY, following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Dave and Cora Perkins Matney. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Harman Freewill Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker.

Mrs. Sanson was preceded in death by her first husband: Andrew Smith, second husband: Eligah Dotson, and third husband: Floyd Sanson.

She is survived by 3-Daughters: Mary Ann and husband Clearnie Stacy, Gaston, NC, Gloria Jean and husband Douglas Owens, Gaston, NC, Nancy J. and husband Bobby Ratliff, Grundy, VA, 5-Brothers: Glenn Matney, Grundy, VA, Herman Jack Matney, Whitewood, VA, Emory Matney, Patterson, VA, Luther Shade Matney, Grundy, VA, Elwood Matney, Beckley, WV, 1-Half-Sister: Nell Keen, Whitewood, VA, 1-Half-Brother: David Matney, Hillsville, VA

Also survived by 6-Grandchildren and 10-Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 1-Son: Allen Ray Smith, 1-Sister: Evia Akers and 4-Brothers: Roy Matney, Ritter Matney, Ellis Matney and Galley Matney.

Funeral Services for BESSIE PEARL MATNEY SANSON will be conducted Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers: Ronnie Sliger, Eddie Wilson, Bobby Ratliff and Josh Bowman officiating with entombment to follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Claypool Hill, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
