BILLY R. “9-BALL” LESTER, 57 years of age of the Home Creek Section of Grundy, VA, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010 at the Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late James Isaac and Leona Blanche Estep Lester. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was of the Christian Faith. He was a loving father and grandfather and was a Retired Coal Truck Driver.

Mr. Lester is survived by 2-Daughters: Jeannie Marie and husband Albert Childress, Grundy, VA, Patricia Joyce “P.J.” Lester and husband Mike Piispanen, Haysi, VA, 1-Sister: Helen Flo Ballard, Linden, MI, 1-Brother: Douglas Eugene and wife Linda Lester, Grundy, VA

Also, survived by 5-Grandchildren: Jordan Lester, Justin Lester, Kayla McClanahan, Blake Childress and Savannah Childress; 1-Niece: Donna and husband Scott Belcher; 1-Nephew: Jessie and wife Trina Lester; and 2-Great-Nephews.

He was preceded in death by 1-Brother: Jessie James Lester.

Funeral Services for BILLY R. “9-BALL” LESTER will be conducted Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers: Ronnie Sliger, James Chapman, Eddie Wilson and Josh Bowman officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Thurl Chafins, James Riley, Denver Hunt, Danny Whitt, Gary Hughes, Hoss Deel and Jessie Elswick. 

Honorary Pallbearers will be Roland Belcher, Albert Childress, David Akers, Steve McClanahan and Mike Piispanen.
