BRENDA LEE SHORTT YOUNG, 47 years of age of Prestonsburg, KY, formerly of Buchanan County, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010 at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital, Pikeville, KY, following a brief illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Victor Shortt and Linda Sue Ward Shortt Vandyke. She was a resident of Buchanan County most of her life prior to moving to Kentucky and was of the Holiness Faith. She was a loving mother and was a machine operator with Kellogg’s Pikeville Plant.

Mrs. Young is survived by her husband, Michael Young, Prestonsburg, KY, 1-Daughter: Samantha S. and husband Clyde Wright, Georgetown, KY, 1-Son: Travis Young, Pikeville, KY, 3-Sisters: Teresa and husband Donald Griffey, Hurley, VA, Tammy and husband Alvin Mullins, Grundy, VA, Denise Vandyke, Grundy, VA, 3-Brothers: Brian Shortt, Wise, VA, Michael Vandyke, Pilgrims Knob, VA, Mark Vandyke, Pilgrims Knob, VA

Also, survived by several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Services for BRENDA LEE SHORTT YOUNG will be conducted Friday, June 25, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the Bethel Baptist Church, near Wolford, VA, with Ministers: Jack Ward, Jeff Stacy and Steven Lane officiating with burial to follow in the Antioch Cemetery on Bill Young Mountain near Keen Mountain, VA.

Friends may call at Bethel Baptist Church Wednesday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with services Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Donald Griffey, Jr., Anthony Mullins, Derrick Mullins, Chris Mounts, Arthur Blankenship and Clyde Wright.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Family and Friends.
