EUGENE LOONEY,
78 years
of age of Vansant, VA, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at the Wellmont-Bristol
Regional Medical Center, Bristol, TN, following an extended illness. Born in
Coopersville, OH, he was the son of the late Dewey E. and Rosa Yates Looney. He
was a resident of Buchanan County most of his life and was of the Christian
faith. He was a loving father, grandfather and was former part owner of
Ratliff’s Farm and Home Supply, Royal City, Grundy, VA for more than 50-years.
He enjoyed farming, boating and watching NASCAR.

1-Special Sister-in-Law: Genetta Looney, Vansant, VA, 4-Grandchildren: Jason and
wife Shey Cline, Salem, VA, Crystal and husband Robert Clevinger, Big Rock, VA,
Jamie Norris, Grundy, VA, Hannah Skeens, Grundy, VA
Also, survived by 4-Great-grandchildren: Carly
Norris, Jake Cline, Morgann Cline and Caylee Clevinger, 1-Niece: Melanie and
husband Robert Hibbitts, Grundy, VA; and 3-Nephews: Mark and wife Linda Looney,
Springfield, OH, David and wife Ellen Looney, Springfield, OH, and Todd Matney,
Vansant, VA.
He was preceded in death by 1-Infant Son: Craig
Looney; 1-Infant Sister: Helen Looney and 1-Brother: Leon Looney.
Funeral Services for CARL EUGENE LOONEY
will be conducted Friday, October 2, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral
Home Chapel with Dr. Stan Parris officiating with burial to follow in the Clinch
Valley Memorial Cemetery, Richlands, VA.
Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home
Chapel Thursday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
Active Pallbearers will be Jessie Cline, Robert
Skeens, Jason Cline, Mark Looney, David Looney, Todd Matney, Robert Clevinger
and Robert Hibbitts.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Clint
Sutherland, Mickey Matney, Kermit Rowe, Don Baldwin, Bill Woodrum and Special
Care Givers.
