CAROL RUTH FLEMING BLANKENSHIP, 71 years of age of Vansant, VA, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011 at the Clinch Valley Medical Center, Richlands, VA, following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late C.C. and Opal Vanover Fleming. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, a graduate of Grundy High School Class of 1958 and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker. 

Mrs. Blankenship is survived by her husband, Ernest Blankenship, Vansant, VA, 1-Daughter: Clarissa Ann and husband Roger Morrell, Blountville, TN, 2-Sons: David Alan and wife Kim Blankenship, Cedar Bluff, VA, Ernest Jr. and wife Roya Blankenship, Bristol, VA

Also, survived by 3-Sisters: Sharon, Donna and Pam; 5-Brothers: Rick, Steve, Tim, Randy and Mark; 6-Grandchildren: Brian Morrell, Amber Morrell, Kamryn Blankenship, Ryan Blankenship, Mary Blankenship and David Blankenship; 1-Great-Grandson: Jack Morrell.  

She was preceded in death by 1-Brother: Ronnie Fleming.

Funeral Services for CAROL RUTH FLEMING BLANKENSHIP will be conducted Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dean Powers officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
