CHARLES HOUSTON BENNETT JR., 65 years of age of the Slate Creek section of Grundy, VA, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2009 at his home following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Charles Houston Sr. and Juanita Horner Bennett. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Slate Creek Primitive Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and was a disabled coal miner. He was an avid CB Radio Operator.

Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife: Eleanor Alice Mullins Bennett, Grundy, VA, 3-Daughters: Kasandra Delene Bennett, Meadowview, VA, Cristy Lynn and husband Clellan Compton Jr., Bristol, VA, Misty Gen and husband Billy Charles Duty, Grundy, VA, 2-Sons: Jessie Chadwick and wife Betty Bennett, Grundy, VA, Charles Houston Bennett III, Grundy, VA

Also, survived by 7-Grandchildren and 4-Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 1-Daughter: Cindy Renee Bennett, 1-Sister: Brenda Sue Clevinger and 1-Brother: Ronnie Lee Bennett.

Funeral Services for CHARLES HOUSTON BENNETT JR. will be conducted Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at the Slate Creek Primitive Baptist Church, on Hobbs Branch Road, Grundy, VA, with Elders: Ezra Davis, Jr., Darrell Mullins, Elza Mullins and Kenneth Mullins officiating with burial to follow in the Jeff Mullins Cemetery on Osborne Branch Road, near Stacy, VA.

Friends may call at the Slate Creek Primitive Baptist Church, on Hobbs Branch Road, Grundy, VA, Monday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with services at 6:00 P.M.
