
CHARLES
W. BEACH,
73 years
of age of Oakwood, Virginia, passed away at his home on March 18, 2009 following
an extended illness. Born in Baltimore, MD, on October 5, 1935, he was the son
of the late William Beach and Etta Beach. He was self employed for several
years, worked for Dupont for several years and was a pipe fitter, welder and
plumber by profession. He took pride in his profession. He was a graduate of
Baltimore High School, and graduated from a two year program from Delaware State
University. He was a former member of the Salvation Army for thirty years where
he worked as an instructor and taught others to teach. He was an accomplished
musician who enjoyed playing the piano, organ and accordion. As a teenager, he
played the accordion professionally on a regular basis on television. Bowling
was a favorite sport for him where he acquired some wonderful friendships. He
also enjoyed his talent of art and painting. He was the last surviving member
of his family
He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist
Church at Belcher, KY.
Mr. Beach is survived by his wife of nine years,
Ocie Matney Beach of Oakwood, VA, Three daughters: Brenda and husband
Jeff Bowers, Felton, Delaware, Kelly and husband Rick Phillips, South Carolina,
Debbie and husband Teddy Justice, Geoffrey, SC, Two sons: Jimmy Beach, South
Carolina, David and his wife Terri Beach, Wellford, SC, One Step daughter: Liz
Justus, Oakwood, VA, One Step Son: Randy Matney, Oakwood, VA
He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren,
22great-grandchildren and one step grandson – Tyler Justus.
He is also survived by a special sister-in-law –
Delphia Davis and many friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers – Ralph
and Raymond Beach and a sister Alma.
Funeral services for CHARLES W. BEACH will
be conducted Sunday March 22, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home
Chapel with Pastors Mykal Ringstaff, Paul Henry and Elder John Welleford
officiating with burial to follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool
Hill, Virginia where he will await the great resurrection at the second coming
of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home
Chapel after 6:00 P. M. Saturday with services at 7:00 P.M.
Active Pallbearers will be Randy Matney, Tyler
Justus, Raymond Slone, Jeff Bowers, Bobby Justus, Ronald Moore, and Teddy
Justice.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Chuck’s Bowling
Friends, Ellis Matney, Jerry Branham and Jerry Sexton.
