CHARLIE RICE, 87 years of age of Maxie, VA, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at his home following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late William Isaac Rice and Dicie Deel Rice McClanahan. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was of the Regular Baptist faith. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and was a retired Coal Miner having worked for Harman Mining Company.

Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his wife: Carma Mae Willis Rice, September 20, 1992.

He is survived by 5-Daughters: Clara and husband Steve Beller, Harman, VA, Brenda Justus, Elkhorn City, KY, Wilma Stewart, Elkhorn City, KY, Dicie and husband Danny Stewart, Elkhorn City, KY, Marie Stiltner, Elkhorn City, KY, 3-Sons: William “Dockie” Rice, Harman, VA, Roy and wife Celia Rice, Prater, VA, Garman and wife Wilma Rice, Harman, VA

Also, survived by 20-Grandchildren, 21-Great-Grandchildren and Several Nieces & Nephews.

He was preceded in death by 2-Sons: Gary & Cecil Rice, and 3-Brothers: Harvey, Kermit & David Rice.

Funeral Services for CHARLIE RICE will be conducted Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bull Creek Old Regular Baptist Church, Harman, VA, with Elders: Andy Deel, Mark Justus and Roger Coleman officiating with burial to follow in the J.S. Willis Cemetery near John Flanagan Dam, Haysi, VA.

Friends may call at the Bull Creek Old Regular Baptist Church, Harman, VA, Thursday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with services Thursday and Friday evening at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Grandchildren.
