CLARENCE LEE (CLANCY) DOTSON, 67 years old of Grundy, Virginia, passed away Monday, August 8, 2011 at his home following an apparent heart attack.  Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Ellis W. and Nannie Mae Lucas Dotson.  He was a Commercial Pilot having flown for over 40 years, a member of the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict and a member of the Grundy Church of Christ. 

Mr. Dotson is survived by 1-Daughter: Valerie Cummings, Kokomo, IN, 1-Son: Patrick and his wife Amy Dotson, Kokomo, IN, 2-Sisters: Rebecca Dotson, Clinton, TN, Karen Dotson, Marion, IN, 2-Brothers: James and his wife Mary Grace Dotson, Harlem, GA, Larry and his wife Susan Dotson, Pounding Mill, VA

Six grandchildren – Tiffan Cummings, Garrett Cummings, Tyler Dotson, Blaise Dotson, Sunny Allen and Silas Allen.

He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 5 sisters – Lois Stiltner, Edith Kinser, Velda Ruth Owens, Muriel Cooley and Ann Yeagy. He was also preceded in death by two brothers- Paul Dotson and Charles Douglas Dotson.

Funeral services for CLARENCE LEE (CLANCY) DOTSON, will be conducted Friday, August 12, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Evg, Dennis Wimmer officiating with burial to follow in the Dotson Family Cemetery in Grundy, Virginia.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home after 5:00 P.M. Thursday. 

Active Pallbearers will be Garret Cummings, Tyler Dotson, Blaise Dotson, Silas Allen, Gordon Dotson and Jordan Hagy.

Honorary Pallbearers will be James H. Street, David Stevenson, Jerry Davis, James Dotson and Larry Dotson.

Full Military rites will be conducted by members of the Childs-Gentry Post #7360 of the Veterans of Foreign War.
