CLARK FRANCIS KENNEDY, SR., 70 years of age of Paynesville, WV, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at the Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, VA, following a brief illness. Born February, 13, 1938, in McDowell County, he was the son of the late James Francis Kennedy, who was the founder of Plateau Orchard, and his mother Gladys Cole Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy served our country in the United States Army (1959-1960) where he served in Germany and was of the Methodist Faith. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and was the proud co-owner of Plateau Orchard for over 50-years.

Clark will be greatly missed and will remain in our hearts always.

Mr. Kennedy is survived by his former wife: Joyce Ann Kennedy, Bristol, TN, 1-Daughter:     Sabrina and husband Franklin “Dee Dee” Brown II, Bristol, TN, 2-Sons: Clark Francis Kennedy II, Paynesville, WV, Mark Cole and wife Melissa Puckett Kennedy, Abingdon, VA, 2-Sisters: Norine Harman, Bristol, VA, Anise Jean and husband Bobby Jones, Galax, VA, 1-Brother: Paul James and wife Ruby Kennedy, Paynesville, WV

Also, survived by 3-Grandchildren: Austin Cole Kennedy, Franklin “Corey” Brown III, Francis “B.J.” Brown; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 1-Brother: James Marion Kennedy.

Funeral Services for CLARK FRANCIS KENNEDY, SR., will be conducted Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Evg. Mark Gaminde and Evg. Hobert Kennedy officiating with burial to follow in the Lester’s Cemetery on State Line Ridge #1, Paynesville, WV.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Friday evening from 6-9 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Family and Friends.

Full Military Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by members of John Ratliff Post No. 164 of the American Legion.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Dr. & Mrs. Ellison Conrad for their kindness throughout Clark’s illness. Also, to the wonderful people at the Cancer Center in Abingdon, VA, especially Dr. Sue Prill. And a special thanks to the caring staff at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
