CLINTON WYATT DALES, 78 years of age of Grundy, VA, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, December 27, 2009 at his home following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, October 7, 1931, he was the son of the late John and Clacie Looney Dales. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and the pastor of Seaboard Church of God. He also served God through a radio broadcast every Sunday before his illness.

Mr. Dales retired form Jewell Smokeless Coal Corp. as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Prior to Jewell Smokeless, he was a Heavy Equipment Operator for Ed Horn. The operators and coworkers endearingly called him “Sleepy.”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 42-years: Gladie Hurley Dales, November 15, 1992.

Mr. Dales is survived by 3-Daughters:  Gaye and husband Frankie Landreth, Harman, VA, Emmie Keen, Grundy, VA, Dana and husband Gerald Stiltner, Grundy, VA, 2-Sons: Ronnie and wife Truby Dales, Vansant, VA, Jimmy and wife Connie Dales, Grundy, VA, 3-Sisters: Verline Looney, Vansant, VA, Rachel and husband Paul Compton, Grundy, VA, Ruby and husband Paul Kennedy, Paynesville, WV, 1-Brother: Homer Dales, Ohio

Also, survived by 9-Grandchildren and 12-Great-Grandhildren.

He was preceded in death by his Step-Father: Sam Bailey, 1-Sister: Juanita Stacy, 1-Brother: Victor Dales, and 2-Granddaughters: Janie and Alisa Landreth.

Funeral Services for CLINTON WYATT DALES will be conducted Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lee Upchurch and Rev. Bruce Mitchell officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Monday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services Monday and Tuesday evenings at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons: Gerald “Chimpie” Stiltner, Jr., John Dales, Kevin Stiltner, Bobby O’Quinn, Frankie “Buckey” Blankenship and David Shelton, and Great-Grandsons: Steven O’Quinn, Austin Blankenship, Jarrod Shelton and Logan O’Quinn.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Eric Goss, Larry Cook, Mark Mitchell, Terry Street, Bruce Mitchell, Truman Mullins and Harold Street.
