DAVE JUSTUS, JR. 80 years of age of Grundy, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at the Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness.  Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Dave and Bertha Alice McClanahan Justus.  He was a former employee of Norfolk and Southern Railway, Southwest Coal Company and was a retired employee of the Island Creek Coal Company VP#1 Mine.  He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local Union #1509.

Mr. Justus is survived by his wife, Shirley Cochran Justus, Grundy, VA, One Son: Teddy David Justus, Grundy, VA, Three sisters: Birdie Justus, Hurley, VA, Edna and her husband Jim Marks, Grundy, VA, Ruby Justus, Roanoke, VA

He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 3 Sisters – Lottie Rife, Pearl Rife and Maggie Rife; and four brothers – James Justus, Clell Justus, Woodrow Justus and Glenn Justus.

Funeral services for DAVE JUSTUS, JR., will be conducted Friday, March 26, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Evg. Dennis Wimmer officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park., Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel after 5:00 P.M. Thursday afternoon with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active pallbearers will be Gary Hughes, Billy Stiltner, Eddie Stiltner, Vester Ward, Alan Honaker and Neil Justus.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Skeens, Jerry Skeens, Eddie Skeens, Charles Skeens and Robert Skeens.
