DELLA VIRGINIA SHELL RATLIFF, 80 years of age of Hurley, VA, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at her home following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Sarah Osborne Shell. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Hurley Church of God in Jesus Name. Mrs. Ratliff was a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the American Legion and was the Popcorn Lady at D.A. Justus Elementary School. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and enjoyed sewing, singing and was a Cook for the Buchanan County School System.

Mrs. Ratliff is survived by her husband of 62-years: Rev. Herbert James Ratliff, Hurley, VA, 2-Daughters: Janice and husband Jerry Clevinger, Hurley, VA, Teresa Davis, Hurley, VA, 2-Sons: David Wayne Ratliff, Athens, OH, James Marshall and wife Vicki Ratliff, Culpepper, VA, 2-Sisters: Leona Dorton Keen, Vansant, VA, Ocie Moore, Oakwood, VA, 1-Brother: Charles “June” Shell Jr., Dayton, OH

Also, survived by 4-Grandchildren and 3-Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 1-Daughter: Joyce Ilene Ratliff; 1-Sister: Lou Belcher; and 4-Brothers: Jess Shell, Hobert Shell, Dillow Shell and Edward Shell.

Funeral Services for DELLA VIRGINIA SHELL RATLIFF will be conducted Sunday, November 2, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hurley Church of God in Jesus Name, Hurley, VA, with Rev. Ray Salyers and Rev. Doug Blankenship officiating with entombment to follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Claypool Hill, VA.

Friends may call at the Hurley Church of God in Jesus Name, Hurley, VA, Saturday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be: Darrell Stacy, Michael Darrell Stacy, Jeremy Clevinger, Joe Shelton, Benny Smith, Bobby Helton, Justin Clevinger and Teddy Hipps.
