DENNIS McCOY, 90 years of age of the Slate Creek Section of Grundy, VA, passed away Monday, March 9, 2009 at the Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Rome and Margaret Blankenship McCoy. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Crossview Church of Christ. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and was a Retired Coal Miner.

Mr. McCoy was preceded in death by his wife: Laura Baker McCoy, January 4, 1993.

He is survived by 4-Daughters: Geneva and husband Herman Ball, Grundy, VA, Margaret and husband Abe Blankenship, Grundy, VA, Athlene and husband Terry Blankenship, Hurley, VA, Connie and husband Steve Ward, Grundy, VA, 4-Sons: Bill and wife Pam McCoy, Grundy, VA, Jack McCoy, Grundy, VA, Johnny and wife Sarah McCoy, Harman, VA, Bobby and wife Diana McCoy, Vansant, VA, 1-Sister: Edna Hurley, Hurley, VA, 1-Brother: Herman McCoy, Glade Springs, VA

Also, survived by 15-Grandchildren, 2-Step-Grandchildren, 7-Great-Grandchildren, 1-Step-Great-Grandson and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by 2-Sons: Larry Joe McCoy and Tommy McCoy, and 3-Brothers: Lonnie, H.C. and Edd McCoy.

Funeral Services for DENNIS McCOY will be conducted Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Crossview Church of Christ, near Paynesville, WV, with Evg. Hobert Kennedy officiating with burial to follow in the Lester Cemetery on State Line Ridge #1, near Paynesville, WV.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M. Mr. McCoy will be moved to the Crossview Church of Christ, near Paynesville, WV, Wednesday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Men of the Crossview Church of Christ.
