DONALD GENE FORTNER, 65 years of age of Wolford, Virginia passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN, following an extended illness.  Born in Wayne County, WV, he was the son of Frankie Selbee Fortner of Wolford, VA., and the late Ervin Fortner.  He was a resident of Buchanan County for most of his life and was a retired Coal Miner and enjoyed the outdoors.

Mr. Fortner is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Justus Fortner of Wolford, VA, One daughter:  Rhonda Kaye Fortner Broadwell, Sanford, NC, One Son: Tim and his wife Daleena Fortner, Sanford, NC, Six sisters: Rachel Rife Cline, Hurley, VA, Geraldine and her husband Roy Nichols, Grundy, VA, Brenda and her husband Latney Bandy, Wolford, VA, Diana and her husband Ron Bandy, Hurley, VA, Anita and her husband Jimmy Goss, Whitewood, VA, Marletta and her husband Greg Cantrell, Whitewood, VA, One Brother: Burnice and his wife Janet Fortner, Hurley, VA

He is also survived by three grandchildren.

Funeral services for DONALD GENE FORTNER will be conducted Friday, January 7, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Hess and Rev. Josh Bowman officiating with burial to follow in the Mary Lou Cemetery on State Line Ridge #1 near Paynesville, WV.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel after 5:00 P.M. Thursday with services to be held at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Family and Friends.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Dr. Eric Goss.
