
EDITH LEONA CLINE
CLEVINGER, 90
years of age of the Leemaster Section of Vansant, VA, passed away Monday, April
6, 2009 at the Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born
January 2, 1919, in Wharncliffe, WV, she was the daughter of the late Scott and
Lydia Perry Cline and wife of the late Burns Clevinger.
She and her husband
lived in Detroit, MI, for many years. There, she worked in the J.L. Hudson
Department Store for over 20-Years. After returning to the Grundy area, she
worked as a sales clerk for the Family Shop. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and
needlework. She was a member of the Big Prater Baptist Church. Edith was a
loving friend to all who knew her.
In addition to her
parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 5-Sisters: Effie Cline, Elma
Jean Cline, Evelyn Daniels Deel, Lula Smith and Janice Hale; and 3-Brothers:
Earl J. Cline, Cecil Cline and Scott Cline Jr.
Survivors include
2-Sisters: Mrs. Elizabeth Matney, Bristol, TN, Betty O’Quinn, Charlottesville,
VA, 1-Brother: Robert Harold Cline, Vansant, VA, 1-Sister-in-Law: Mrs. Jean
Cline, Vansant, VA, 1-Brother-in-Law: Fred Smith, Swords Creek, VA
Also, survived by many
nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews; special friends:
Deborah and Scotty Owens; and care-givers: Nila Coleman, Charlene Farmer and
Betty Owens.
Funeral Services for
EDITH LEONA CLINE CLEVINGER will be conducted Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at
11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Minister: Jeff Slone
officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big
Rock, VA.
Friends may call at the
Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00
P.M.
Active Pallbearers will
be Nephews and Scotty Owens.
Honorary Pallbearers
will be Members of the Big Prater Baptist Church and Dr. J.G. Patel.
