ELLIS SCARBERRY, 75 years of age of Hurley, VA, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Buchanan General Hospital, Grundy, VA, following an extended illness. Born in Pike County, KY, he was the son of the late James (Jim) and Lou McClanahan Scarberry. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Kelsa Freewill Baptist Church.  He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a retired Coal Miner.   

Mr. Scarberry was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Dotson Scarberry, December 28, 2004.

He is survived by 4-Daughters: Connie and husband Bruce Jackson, Hurley, VA, Phyllis and husband Farley Sargent, Paw Paw, KY, Linda and husband John Justus, Hurley, VA, Kathy and husband Jerry Thacker, Pikeville, KY, 1-Son: Christopher and wife Pamela Scarberry, Roanoke, VA, 1-Sister: Tilda Dotson, Linden, MI

Also, survived by 11-Grandchildren and 16-Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 1-Son Donald Scarberry, 3-Sisters Pearl Dotson, Dorothy McClanahan, and Hazel Dotson, 1-Brother Dewey Scarberry, 2-Great-Grandchildren.  

Funeral Services for ELLIS SCARBERRY will be conducted Saturday, July 3, 2010  at 1:00 P.M. at the Jackson Chapel Church, near Kelsa, VA, with Ministers: William Prater, Kenneth Jackson, and Bobby Jackson officiating with burial to follow in Dotson Cemetery in Paw Paw, KY.

Friends may call at the Jackson Chapel Church Thursday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services Thursday and Friday evenings at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Family and Friends.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. H. Patel, Dr. D. Patel, Dr. J. G. Patel, Staff of Buchanan General Hospital ICU, Staff of Heritage Hall Nursing Home.
