ELMER STACY,
78 years of age of Oakwood, VA, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012 at his
home following an extended illness.
Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Rufus “Oswald”
and Ocie Edna Matney Stacy. He
was a resident of Buchanan County all of his life and was a member of the
Victory Baptist Church. He was a
devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and was a service station
manager for Direct Oil Company.
Mr. Stacy served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict receiving the
Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal and the Service Medal.
Mr. Stacy is preceded in death by his wife of 58
years: Shirley June Boggs
Stacy-March 26, 2010.

He is also survived by (5) Grandchildren: Precious
Hope Meadows of Oakwood, VA, Kristopher Allen Harris, Oakwood, VA, Stephanie
Michelle Stacy, Murfreesboro, TN, Walker Dean Stacy, Charleston, WV, and
Cory Michael Fagan, Nitro, WVA.
He was preceded in death by 1-brother: Jimmy Ray
Stacy.
Funeral services for
ELMER STACY will be conducted
Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 12 Noon at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with
Rev. William Fletcher officiating with burial to follow in the Greenhills
Memory Garden, Claypool Hill, VA.
Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by members the
Childs Gentry Post #7360 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel
Monday evening at 6:00P.M. with services at 7:00P.M.
Active pallbearers will be: Kevin Stacy, Jim Ray
Stacy II, Russell Stacy, Tim Shortridge, Bob Cox, A.L. Blankenship Jr.,
Anthony Shortridge, and Kris Harris.
Honorary Pallbearers will be:
