ELMER (JOHN)
EUGENE SEXTON,
66 years of age
of Grundy, VA, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at the James H. Quillen
Veterans Hospital, Mountain Home, TN from an extended illness. Born in Buchanan
County, he was the son of the late Jay and Willie (Nanny) Gray Sexton. He was a
lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a Veteran of the United States
Army serving in Vietnam. He was as a member of the John Ratliff Post #164 of
the American Legion and was a member of the Childs Gentry Post #7360 of the
Veterans of Foreign War. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and
grandfather, and worked as an Automobile Salesman.
Mr. Sexton is
survived by his wife Lois Marie Hackney Sexton, Grundy, VA, 1-Daughter: Melinda
and husband Andrew Fairhurst, Abingdon, VA, 2-Sons: Charles Sexton, Grundy, VA,
Jonathan and wife Greta Sexton, Grundy, VA, 3-Sisters: Juanita Sexton,
Gainesville, FL, Shirley and husband Casby Bowman, Florahome, FL, Mary and
husband Jimmy Street, Lebanon, VA, 4-Brothers: David Sexton, Oakwood, VA, Roy
James and wife Martha Sexton, Grundy, VA, Lloyd Keith and wife Donna Sexton,
Vansant, VA, Jimmy Darrell Sexton, Grundy, VA, 2-Grandchildren: Logan Hawk and
Morgan Sexton
Also, survived by
several Nieces and Nephews and his extended additional family the Hackneys.
He was preceded
in death by 1-Sister Blanche Dellinger, 3-Brothers: William Jay, Joe Robert,
and Samuel Sexton.
Funeral Services
for ELMER (JOHN) EUGENE SEXTON will be conducted Saturday, July 3, 2010
at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Evg. Gerald Vanover
officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock,
VA.
Friends may call
at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at
7:00 P.M.

Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by Members of Childs Gentry Post # 7360
of the Veterans of Foreign War.
