ELSIE BAKER LESTER, 87 years of age of Grundy, VA, passed away Friday, December 30, 2011 at the Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Hyson Frelin and Katherine Justus Baker. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of Blackey Baptist Church. Elsie was a 1941 Graduate of Hurley High School. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and was a wonderful Homemaker.

Mrs. Lester was preceded in death by her husband, William Anderson Lester, 1-Daughter: Irene Justus Lester; 1-Son: Ronald Michael Lester; 1-Sister: Stella Baker Blankenship; and 4-Brothers: Edward Baker, Ernest Baker, Charlie Baker and Robert Baker.

She is survived by 1-Sister: Retha Baker Bunting, Pennsylvania

Also, survived by 1-Granddaughter: Lauren Michelle Lester; 4-Great-Grandchildren: Andrew Newsome, Michelle Rae Newsome McCoy, Stephanie Rossbach and Justin Rossbach; 3-Step-Grandsons: Steven Shock, Paul James Shock and Mark Shock; 6-Great-Great-Grandchildren and Special Nieces and Nephews.

Graveside Services for ELSIE BAKER LESTER will be conducted Monday, January 2, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Mountain Valley Memorial Park with Minister Josh Bowman officiating with burial to follow.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Sunday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Thakkar, Dr. H. Patel, Staff of Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Buchanan General Hospital Emergency Room and Intensive Care Unit.
