EMMA SKEENS DAVIS, 86 years of age of the Dry fork section of Vansant, Virginia, passed away at her home Monday, September 20, 2010 following an extended illness.  Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Eva Mae Vandyke Skeens.  She was a member of the Vansant Church of Christ a retired janitress for the Appalachian Power Company, was a volunteer janitress for the Vansant Church of Christ and prepared the communion for several years. 

Mrs. Skeens is survived by one sister, Lois Ruth Looney, Vansant, VA, Three Brothers, A. C. Phillip and his wife Janet Skeens, Grundy, VA, Onnie Skeens and friend Connie Sanders, Vansant, VA, Marion Cecil and his wife Eula Faye Skeens, Bristol, VA

She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Davis is preceded in death by her husband, Marion Davis; One Sister – Edna Miller and Two brothers – Paul and James Skeens.

Funeral services for EMMA SKEENS DAVIS will be conducted Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at the Grundy Funeral Home chapel with Evg. Mike Rife and Rev. Pim Griffey officiating with special singing by Barney Stiltner, Jim Hill and the Gilbert Family with burial to follow at the Greenhills Memory Garden at Claypool Hill, Virginia.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday evening after 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Joe Looney, Terry Looney, Bobby Skeens, Keith Skeens, Randy Skeens, Todd Skeens, Mark Cook, Anthony Skeens, Kenny Stiltner, Alan Howell, Doug Matney and Ed Miller.

Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Deel, Coy Viers, Harold Gillespie, Frank Stiltner, Gary Estep, Ralph Tester, Frank Colley, Hearl Shortridge, Eddie Sturgill and Clint Ratliff.

The family suggest that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the Heavenly Helpers Relay For Life Cancer Team, P. O. Box 1016, Grundy, Virginia  24614.
