ERNEST CARTER LOONEY, 97 years of age of the Roseann Section of Grundy, VA, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011 at his home following a brief illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Joseph Adam and Clara Alice Clevinger Looney. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Oakwood Church of Christ. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and was a retired employee of Norfolk & Western Railroad with over 30-years of service.

Mr. Looney was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Ann Cline Looney, April 18, 2003.

Survived by 2-Daughters: Martha Jane Looney and husband Jerry Scarberry, Roseann, VA, Teresa Carol Looney and husband Lawrence Smith, Ewing, VA, 3-Sons: Larry Edward and wife Merilyn Looney, Roseann, VA, James Ernest and wife Mary Jane Looney, Valdosta, GA, Ted Eugene and wife Rhonda Looney, Clayton, GA

Also, survived by 15-Grandchildren, 9-Great-Grandchildren, 2-Great-Great-Grandchildren, and 3-Special Friends: Joann Charles, Lucille Charles and Sherry Blankenship.

He was preceded in death by 2-Daughters: Ellen Alice Looney Justus and Patricia Clydean Looney Justus; 1-Granddaughter: Angela Michelle Justus and 1-Brother: Herbert Clyde Looney.

Funeral Services for ERNEST CARTER LOONEY will be conducted Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
