ETHEL HUNT PRATER, 97 years of age of Hurley, VA, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY, following an extended illness. Born in Pike County, KY, she was the daughter of the late John and Melinda Miller Hunt. She was a resident of Buchanan County most of her life and was a member of the Kelsa Church of Christ. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, great-great-great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker.

Mrs. Prater was preceded in death by her husband: Troy Prater, 1970.

She is survived by 2-Daughters: Autom Mayo, Pikeville, KY, Beatrice Zimmerman, Bristol, VA, 3-Sons: Tolbert and wife Betty Prater, Hurley, VA, Ulvert and wife Bonnie Prater, Hurley, VA, Wendell and wife Mary Prater, Abingdon, VA, 1-Sister: Greathel Michaels, Cedar Bluff, VA, 2-Brothers: Julian Hunt, Jeffersonville, IN, Shelton Michaels, Fenton, MI

Also, survived by 27-Grandchildren, 67-Great-Grandchildren, 4-Great-Great-Grandchildren and 1-Great-Great-Great-Grandchild.

She was preceded in death by 3-Infant Children, 1-Daughter: Virginia Spencer, 1-Son: Arnold Prater, 2-Grandchildren: Ernest Prater and Troy Dale Prater, 4-Sisters: Okie Kennedy, Lova Phillips, Claudia Harrison and Essie Lester, 2-Brothers: Homer and Ben Hunt and 1-Half-Brother: Virgil Michaels.

Funeral Services for ETHEL HUNT PRATER will be conducted Thursday, February 12, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Evgs. Steve Dawson, Mike Rife and Hobert Kennedy officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of the Kelsa Church of Christ.
