EUGENE MATNEY, 78 years of age of the Garden Creek section of Oakwood, VA passed away at his home on Saturday, July 31, 2010 a following an extended illness. Born in McDowell County, WV he was the son of the late Anthony Walter and Nettie Toler Matney.  He was  retired  from N & W Railway and belonged to the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way.   He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great grand-father and enjoyed hunting and fishing. 

Mr. Matney was preceded in death by his wife Cloie Mae White Matney  May 16, 2009.

He is survived by: 1-Daughter: Sherry and husband Ronnie Osborne, Raven, VA; 1-Son: David and wife Kathy Matney, Sugar Grove, VA; 3-Sisters: Mildred Justus, Fedscreek, KY, Ruby Dotson, Flint, MI, Bessie Stiltner, Abingdon, VA, 1-Brother: Jerry Matney, Gloucester, VA.  He is also survived by 5-Grandchildren and 4-Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 1-Son Gary Matney; 1-Granddaughter Jennifer Matney; 3-Sisters: Donnie Clevinger, Lois Ball, 1-Infant Sister; 7-Brothers: Donald, Wes, John Henry, Ray, Odell, Lonnie, and Whetzel Matney. 

Funeral Services for EUGENE MATNEY. will be conducted Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the Keen Mountain Free Pentecostal Holiness Church, Keen Mountain, VA with Revs. Randy Webb and Frank Blankenship officiating with burial to follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA.

Friends may call at the Keen Mountain Free Pentecostal Church on Monday afternoon, August 2, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Kenneth Anders, Rodney Matney, Craig Matney, Kevin Matney, Matt Woods, and Anthony Adams.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. M. J. Thakkar and Staff, Dr. Vish and Staff, Steve Cook, and Michael Fletcher.
