EVELUE
COLEMAN BLANKENSHIP,
71 years of age
of Rural Retreat, VA, formerly of Buchanan County passed away at the Wythe
County Community Hospital Monday, July 12, 2010 from a extended illness. Born in
Buchanan County she was the daughter of the late Hufford and Polly Deel
Coleman. She was a graduate of the University of Virginia earning a Bachelor’s
Degree in Elementary Education. Upon her retirement she moved to Rural
Retreat, VA where she resided for many years. She retired from the Prince
George County Board of Education where she taught for 35 years in Upper Maroboro,
MD. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother,
and was a member of the Little Martha Old Regular Baptist Church.
Ms. Blankenship is
survived by her husband Larry Blankenship of Rural Retreat, VA; 1-Daughter:
Teresa and husband Jimmy Powell, Hillsville, VA; 5-Brothers: Ersel and wife Lois
Coleman, Vansant, VA, Ralph and wife Nila Coleman, Vansant, VA, Estil and wife
Peggy Coleman, Vansant, VA, Hufford, Jr. and wife Rita Coleman, Vansant, VA,
Roger and wife Becky Coleman, Vansant, VA; 6-Grandchildren: Teddy Blankenship,
David Blankenship, Larry Henderson, Melanie Blankenship, Gillian Powell, Amanda
Thompson; 1-Great Grandchild: Larry Thompson; 1-Sister-in-Law: Viola Coleman;
1-Brother-in-Law: Bill Owens.
She was preceded
in death by 1-Son Teddy D. Blankenship, 1-Grandson Lawrence Lavere Henderson,
3-Sisters Goldie Childress, Shirley Owens, Ella Mae Denny and 1-Brother Hassell
Coleman.
Funeral Services
for EVELUE COLEMAN BLANKENSHIP will be conducted Wednesday, July 14, 2010
at 11:00 A.M. at Little Martha Old Regular Baptist Church, Leemaster, VA with
Elders Howard Daniels, Mark Justice and other Elders officiating with burial to
follow in the Coleman Cemetery on Airport Road near Vansant, VA.
Friends may call
at the Little Martha Old Regular Baptist Church, Leemaster, VA Tuesday evening
at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
