
FAYETTA
DEEL PHILLIPS,
59 years
of age of the Knox Creek Section of Hurley, VA, passed away Wednesday, May 6,
2009 at the Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN, following an extended
illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Allen
and Carsie Hill Deel. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a
member of the Blackey Baptist Mission. Mrs. Phillips attended UVA Wise and
graduated from Berea College in 1971. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and
was an Elementary School Teacher for the Buchanan County School System for
34-Years.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by her husband of
38-Years: Earl Daniel Phillips, Hurley, VA, 1-Son: Rodney Keith Phillips,
Hurley, VA, 3-Sisters: Shelia and husband Allen Long, Manassas, VA, Shelby Deel
Blankenship, Grundy, VA, Carol and husband Donald Gene Mullins, Cedar Bluff, VA
She was preceded in death by 4-Brothers: Raymond
Deel, Jackie Deel, Roger Deel and James Samuel Deel.
Funeral Services for FAYETTA DEEL PHILLIPS
will be conducted Sunday, May 10, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home
Chapel with Ministers Doug Blankenship and Jerry Counts officiating with
Graveside Rites conducted by Elder Frank Newsome and burial to follow in
Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA.
Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home
Chapel Saturday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M. with Elder
Frank Newsome officiating.
Active Pallbearers will be Nephews.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Dr. Eric Goss.
