FRANKLIN D. VANDYKE, 75 years of age of Raven, VA, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Joshua and Edna Keen Vandyke. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was of the Holiness Faith. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and was a former employee of Jewell Coal & Coke.

Mr. Vandyke was preceded in death by his wife: Bessie Keen Vandyke, April 30, 2008.

He is survived by 2-Daughters: Carroll and husband Snook Smith, Oakwood, VA, Rebecca and husband Robert Dean Rose, Contrary, VA, 3-Sons: Billy and wife Joy Vandyke, Raven, VA, Bobby and wife Deana Vandyke, Raven, VA, Delmar and wife Pam Vandyke, Pine Hall, NC, 1-Sister: Ruth Keen, Raven, VA, 2-Brothers: Jimmy and wife Beulah Vandyke, Contrary, VA, Donald and wife Gaynell Vandyke, Keen Mountain, VA, 1-Sister-in-Law: Walsie Vandyke, Flint, MI

Also, survived by 7-Grandchildren: Roy and wife Lizabeth Smith, Rachel and husband Jamie Meadows, Emily and husband T.J. Prater, Sgt. Robbie Vandyke, Lee Allen Vandyke, Brandon Vandyke, Jeorgia Vandyke, 2-Step-Grandsons and 3-Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 2-Sisters: Eunice Meadows and Ruby Vandyke; 2-Infant Sisters; and 5-Brothers: Gus Vandyke, Emery Vandyke, Arlin Vandyke, Danny Vandyke and Hassell Vandyke.

Funeral Services for FRANKLIN D. VANDYKE will be conducted Friday, April 17, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the Antioch Holiness Church, Keen Mountain, VA, with Minister Jack Ward officiating with burial to follow in the Antioch Cemetery, Keen Mountain, VA.

Friends may call at the Antioch Holiness Church, Keen Mountain, VA, Thursday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Nephews.
