Garland H. Deel, 67, of Green Cove Springs , FL , passed away Friday, November 28, 2008. He was born on September 7, 1941 in Grundy , VA to parents, John and Mary Deel. Although he moved to Florida in 1961, he kept close ties to Buchanan County , maintaining his Green Briar homeplace as a second residence where he would visit several times a year.  He made propane his career, having worked for Clay Products for 15 years, then co-owner of Sawyer-Deel Gas for 15 years and in 1991, founded AA Propane and worked there until this battle with cancer, earlier this year.  He was an Ordained Minister with Little Ruth Old Regular Baptist Church as well as the Moderator and Treasurer.

He was known for his love of the Lord, love of family, and his passion for the customers and employees that made his job a labor of love.  His hobbies were enjoying his family and friends, gardening and helping people.  He will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Edna F. Deel; three sons, Curtis J. Deel (Robin), Douglas James Deel (Janet) and Edmond Garland Deel; siblings, Flornie Deel of Somerset, KY, Kermit Deel of Bristol, VA, Martha EmoJean Deel Yates of Grundy, VA and Bessie Prior of Green Cove Springs, FL and six grandchildren, Emily, Courtney, Corey, Joshua, Reagan and Jacob.  

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Little Ruth Old Regular Baptist Church with Elders Terry Fuller, Albert Hamilton, Doug McCarty and Buddy Carty officiating and interment in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Little Ruth Old Regular Baptist Church.
