GARY HOWARD ANDERSON, 56 years of age of the Leemaster Section of Vansant, VA, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the Buchanan General Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of Robert Howard Anderson, Vansant, VA, and the late Emogene Rowe Anderson, passed away November 11, 2005. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Gary graduated from Grundy High School Class of 1972 and attended Southwest Virginia Community College. Mr. Anderson was a member of the National Wildlife Turkey Federation and the United Mine Workers of America. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and was a Disabled Coal Miner having worked for Clinchfield Coal Corporation.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Anna Lou Hager Anderson, Vansant, VA, 2-Daughters: Kristen Leanna Anderson, Vansant, VA, Felicia Anderson and husband Kris Rasnake, Honaker, VA, 2-Sons: Christopher Allen Anderson and special friend, Rachel Young, Elkhorn City, KY, Anthony Todd and wife Laken Anderson, Vansant, VA, 1-Sister: Kimberly Anderson and husband Dennis Long, Grundy, VA, 2-Brothers: Jeffery Lee and wife Pauline Anderson, Grundy, VA, Bob Anderson, Vansant, VA

Also, survived by 3-Grandchildren: Austin Cole, Christopher Allen, Jr. and Navay Rasha Anderson; and Special Pet: “Little Bit.”

Funeral Services for GARY HOWARD ANDERSON will be conducted Monday, December 20, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Larry Ratliff officiating with burial to follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Sunday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Bob Coffey, Keith Sexton, Tom Burniston, James Coleman, Darrell Cochran and Jack Ratliff.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Men of the Victory Baptist Church and Members of the National Wildlife Turkey Federation.
