GERALDINE TESS MATNEY CHALFA, 79 years of age of Grundy, VA, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2010 at the Mountain View Health Care Center, Elkhorn City, KY, following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Burl and Hassie Looney Matney. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, a member of the Buchanan First Presbyterian Church and was a graduate of Grundy High School. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was Co-Owner of House of Fashions.

Mrs. Chalfa was preceded in death by her husband, James Chalfa, July 7, 1980.

She is survived by 1-Daughter: Connie and husband Kemper Bausell, Vansant, VA, 1-Son: Jeffrey Allen Chalfa, Vansant, VA, 2-Sisters: Bernice Matney, Claypool Hill, VA, Zella Rowe, Abingdon, VA, 1-Granddaughter: Tiffany and husband Matt Myers, Mobile, AL

Also, survived by 2-Great-Granddaughters: Keegan Myers and Taylor Myers.

She was preceded in death by 1-Granddaughter: Monica Bausell; 2-Sisters: Tempia Rash and Corena Perdue; and 3-Brothers: Fred Matney, George Matney and Clyde Matney.

Funeral Services for GERALDINE TESS MATNEY CHALFA will be conducted Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 4:00 P.M. at the Buchanan First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jeff Porter officiating with Graveside Services Monday, June 28, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA, with burial to follow.

Friends may call at the Buchanan First Presbyterian Church Saturday from 2:00 P.M. -4:00 P.M.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Elders of the Buchanan First Presbyterian Church.
