
GLADYS PEARL TURNER
SLIGER, 83
years of age of Grundy, VA, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 16, 2010
at the Mayfair House of Richlands, Claypool Hill, VA, following an extended
illness. Born in Henry Clay, KY, she was the daughter of the late Rufus and
Flora Barton Turner. She was a resident of Buchanan County most of her life and
was a member of Harman Freewill Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, loving
mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker.
Mrs. Sliger was preceded
in death by her husband: James E. Sliger, February 17, 1999.
She is survived by
5-Daughters: Mrs. Derek (Janice) Breiten Bach, Belews Creek, NC, Mrs. Donnie
(Margaret) Ratliff, Kernersville, NC, Mrs. Leon (Pat) Ratliff, Kernersville, NC,
Mrs. Clarence (Reba) Cantrell, Grundy, VA, Lucille Duncan, Walnut Grove, NC,
3-Sons: Rev. Ronnie and wife Janie Sliger, Grundy, VA, J.D. Sliger, North
Carolina, Jerry and wife Gail Sliger, Good Hope, GA, 1-Sister: Flecie Sliger,
Tazewell, VA
Also, survived by
14-Grandchildren, 15-Great-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in
death by 1-Grandson: David Ratliff; 1-Infant Grandson; 1-Infant Granddaughter;
3-Sisters: Ruby Ratliff, Bonnie Hay and Nola Willis; 4-Brothers: Richard Turner,
Hesker Turner and Leonard Turner and Robert Willis.
Funeral Services for
GLADYS PEARL TURNER SLIGER will be conducted Thursday, February 18, 2010 at
1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Wilson and Rev. Josh
Bowman officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big
Rock, VA.
Friends may call at the
Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00
P.M.
Active Pallbearers will
be Grandsons and Great-Grandsons.
Honorary Pallbearers
will be Brothers at Harman Freewill Baptist Church, Dr. Clint Sutherland and the
Staff of Legacy Hospice.
