HAROLD
T. LOONEY,
60 years of age of Big Rock, VA, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the
Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY, following an extended illness. Born
in Buchanan County, he was the son of Lena Hatfield, Cocoa, FL, and the late
Hassell Looney. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was of the
Baptist Faith. Harold served in the United States Army during the Vietnam
Conflict and was a member of John Ratliff Post No. 164 of the American
Legion. Mr. Looney was a dedicated donor for the American Red Cross giving
over 40 pints of blood. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather
and was a former employee of Becky Mining Co.
Mr. Looney is
survived by his wife of 42-years, Phyllis Lester Looney, Big Rock, VA,
2-Sons: Jason and wife Marsha Looney, Big Rock, VA, Matthew and wife Crystal
Looney, Garrett, IN, 3-Sisters: Rebecca Atkinson, FL, Elizabeth King, FL,
Rita Price, GA, 2-Brothers: Patrick Looney, FL, Jessie Hatfield, FL
Also, survived by
5-Grandchildren: Joshua Looney, Kaitlyn Looney, Amelia Looney, Elijah Looney
and Alyssa Looney; and Special Feline Friends: Homer, George, Jeff, Bob and
Booger.
Funeral Services for
HAROLD T. LOONEY will be
conducted Friday, January 6, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home
Chapel with Brothers: Raymond Lester and Paul Dotson officiating with burial
to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.
Friends may call
at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Thursday evening at 6:00 P.M. with
services at 7:00 P.M.

Pallbearers will be Family and Friends.
Full Military
Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by Members of John Ratliff Post No.
164 of the American Legion.
