HARVEY
WILLIAM LOONEY,
90 years of age of Bristol, TN, formerly of Buchanan County,
passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010 at the Cambridge House, Bristol, TN,
following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the
late William and Elizabeth Hagy Looney. He was a resident of Buchanan County
most of his life prior to moving to Bristol, TN in 1999, and was a member of
Vansant Church of Christ. Mr. Looney served in the United States Army Air Force
during World War II and received many metals for his service as a sergeant and
was a graduate of Grundy High School Class of 1937. He was an Electrician until
he became disabled.
Mr. Looney was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo Owens Looney,
December 18, 1994.
He is survived by 2-Daughters: Regina and husband Michael Stacy,
Bristol, TN, Sandra and husband Kenny Yates, Bristol, TN, 1-Grandson: Anthony
Stacy, Bristol, TN, 1-Sister: Lusitania “Tan” Looney, Anthony, FL,
1-Sister-in-Law: Clara Looney, Bristol, VA
Also, survived by several Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by 5-Sisters: Gaynell Looney, Grace
Dales, Alice French, Lou Vandyke and Mural Looney; and 5-Brothers: Arnold, Reno,
Aldie, Walter and Hank Looney.
Funeral Services for HARVEY WILLIAM LOONEY will be
conducted Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home
Chapel with Evg. Dennis Wimmer and Tex Dales officiating with burial to follow
in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.
Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday
evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
Active Pallbearers will be Paul Vandyke, Johnny Vandyke, Paul
Jackson, Mark Ramey, Anthony Stacy and Robin Yates.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Noah Vandyke, Earl Jackson, Jerry
Looney, Joyce Yates, Chelia Hopkins, Joe Vandyke and the Staff of the Cambridge
House, Bristol, TN.
Full Military Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by members
of Childs Gentry Post No. 7360 of the Veterans of Foreign War.
