
IDA CATHLEEN LOONEY BURKS,
85 years of age
of Grundy, VA, passed away Monday, December 21, 2009 at the Buchanan General
Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the
daughter of the late Floyd H. and Cretie Ratliff Looney. She was a lifelong
resident of Buchanan County and was of the Old Regular Baptist Faith. She was a
devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was a wonderful
homemaker.
Mrs. Burks was preceded in
death by her husband: Dewey Edward Burks, April 15, 1986.
She is survived by

Grundy, VA, Ronnie Burks, Grundy, VA, 3-Sisters: Edna Stiltner, Grundy, VA,
Grethel Ryan, Tazewell, VA, Ivel Woodruff, Indianapolis, IN, 3-Brothers: Lonnie
and wife Pricie Looney, Grundy, VA, William and wife Mary Looney, Grundy, VA,
Stuard and wife Delores Looney, Grundy, VA, 1-Half-Brother: Kenneth Looney,
Grundy, VA
Also, survived by
24-Grandchildren, 24-Great-Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by
2-Daughters: Rachel Burks and Christine Duda; 2-Sons: Tony Burks and Carter
Burks; 2-Sisters: Ocie Stiltner and Pearl Colley; and 2-Brothers: Melvin Looney
and Lee Looney.
Funeral Services for IDA
CATHLEEN LOONEY BURKS will be conducted Thursday, December 24, 2009 at 1:00
P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers Danny Hess and Josh Bowman
officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock,
VA.
Friends may call at the
Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with services at
7:00 P.M.
