INEZ (TINY) MATNEY RIFE, 59 years of age of Grundy, VA, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, June 14, 2009 at the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY, following a brief illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Lula Blankenship Matney. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and attended the Grundy Church of Christ.

Mrs. Rife taught Sunday school for 30-years and loved working with children. She was a true servant who enjoyed cooking and crafting and her Chicken and Dumplings were legendary. She volunteered for many organizations including Girl Scouts, Church of Christ Youth Camp (CCYC) and the Relay for Life. Tiny enjoyed traveling and recently visited the Bahamas and Mexico. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother and was a Caregiver for Nell Sutherland and the late Dr. J.P. Sutherland, Sr.

Mrs. Rife was preceded in death by her husband: William (Bill) Rife, July 6, 2001.

She is survived by 1-Daughter: Melinda and husband Bill Crigger, Vansant, VA, 1-Son: Ronnie Rife, Vansant, VA, 1-Special-Sister-in-Law: Ann Osborne, Grundy, VA, 3-Sisters: Angie and husband Bob Wyatt, Vansant, VA, Kathy (Kat) Blankenship, Hurley, VA, Easter and husband Paul Rife, Pilgrims Knob, VA, 1-Brother: Frank and wife Jeanenia Matney, Hurley, VA

Also, survived by her special angel and granddaughter: Alayna Faith Crigger of Vansant, VA; and Grandchildren: Amy Brown, Kimberly Stith, Hope Vandyke, Jory Rife and Charity Rife.

She was preceded in death by 1-Sister: Sharon Jean Matney and 5-Brothers: Anderson, Simon, Fred, Hobert and Jimmy Ray Matney.

Funeral Services for INEZ (TINY) MATNEY RIFE will be conducted Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Evangelists: Mike Rife, Paul Rife, Dennis Wimmer and William L. Neeley officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Monday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M. A Special Presentation of her GED by Joyce Presley will take place Monday evening.

Active Pallbearers will be Nieces and Nephews.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Nell Sutherland, Betty Sutherland, Shelby Stacy, T.C. Mullins, Jr. and Ruby Riffe.
