JACK DEMPSEY OWENS, 77 years of age of Vansant, VA, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, VA, following a brief illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late George and Myrtle McFadden Owens. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a Graduate of Grundy High School. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and was an Electrolux Vacuum Cleaner Salesman.

Mr. Owens is survived by his wife of 57-years, Ilene Viers Owens, Vansant, VA, 1-Son: Douglas Owens, Vansant, VA, 2-Grandchildren: Chassity Renee White, Meadowview, VA, Shannon Douglas Owens, Vansant, VA, Former Daughter-in-Law: Kathy Renita Stiltner, Oakwood, VA

He was preceded in death by 1-Sister: Pauline Deel and 2-Brothers: Newlan and Gerald Owens.

Funeral Services for JACK DEMPSEY OWENS will be conducted Monday, March 21, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Aven Viers officiating with burial to follow in the Owens Family Cemetery on Warfork, Prater, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Sunday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
