JAMES “JIMMY” CARTER, 54 years of age of Maxie, VA, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the Buchanan General Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Tazewell County, VA, he was the son of the late Eugene and Pauline Martin Carter. He was a resident of Buchanan County most of his life and was a member of Harman Memorial Baptist Church. He was a 1976 Graduate of Grundy Senior High School and was a member of Sandy Valley Lodge #17. Jimmy was a Retired Coal Miner with Harman Mining Co. and was a member of UMWA Local Union No. 2232.

Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Reba Rasnick Carter, Maxie, VA, 1-Sister: Christine and husband Frankie Childress, Maxie, VA, 1-Brother:   Alan and wife Mary Carter, Grundy, VA

Also, survived by 1-Special Canine: Tyler Dog, and several Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by 2-Brothers: Larry and Gary Carter; Paternal Grandparents: Raymond and Lenore Cater; Maternal Grandmother: Monia Hansen; 1-Special Cousin: Fred Carter and 1-Special Nephew: Patrick Neal Smith.

Funeral Services for JAMES “JIMMY” CARTER will be conducted Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Shea Shrader officiating with entombment to follow in Mountain Rest Mausoleum, Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. with Masonic Rites at 7:00 P.M.
