JAMES McCLANAHAN, 73 years of age of the Poplar Creek Section of Grundy, VA, passed away Monday, February 9, 2009 at the Buchanan General Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Doc and Flora McClanahan. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Harman Holiness Church. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and was a Retired Coal Miner.

Mr. McClanahan was preceded in death by his wife: Ruth Ball McClanahan, October 27, 2008.

He is survived by: 2-Daughters: Debby Jean Boyd, Hurley, VA, Marsha Sue and husband Paul Stiltner, Grundy, VA, 5-Sisters: Jenny and husband Jimmy Clevinger, Grundy, VA, Ada Deel, Prater, VA, Barbara and husband Irvin Coleman, Charlotte, NC, Goldie Mitchell, Richlands, VA, Lucy Sutherland, Richlands, VA, 3-Brothers: Robert and wife Bonnie McClanahan, Tazewell, VA, Charlie and wife Gladys McClanahan, Grundy, VA, Jerry McClanahan, Grundy, VA

Also, survived by 5-Grandchildren and 4-Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 1-Sister: Helen Boyd and 1-Great-Grandchild.

Funeral Services for JAMES McCLANAHAN will be conducted Friday, February 13, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the Harman Holiness Church with Rev. Danny Hess officiating with burial to follow in the McClanahan Cemetery on Poplar Creek, near Grundy, VA.

Friends may call at the Harman Holiness Church Wednesday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with services Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Billy Duty, Bobby Shrader, Dean Colley, Tony Colley, Nick King and Ronnie Layne.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Friends.
