JEANNETTE STEPP SUTHERLAND AKERS, 63 years of age, of Big Rock, VA passed away Thursday, July 12, 2007 following an extended illness. Born in McDowell, KY, she was a daughter of the late Vollie and Josephine Moore Stepp.  She had been a resident of Buchanan County several years and a member of The House of Prayer.  She was a devoted wife, loving Mother, Grandmother and a wonderful homemaker.

Mrs. Akers is survived by her husband William Akers, Big Rock, VA, 2-Daughters: Florene Christina Sutherland and Husband: Leon Peck, Mavisdale, VA, Crystal Dawn Sutherland and Husband John McClanahan, Raven, VA, 4-Sons: Randall and Wife: Pamela Sutherland, Big Rock, VA, Gary and Wife: Sherry Sutherland, Grundy, VA, Gregory Sutherland, Johnson City, TN, Matthew and Wife: Sandra Sutherland, Honaker, VA, 2-Sisters: Linda Slone, Pikeville, KY, Ilene Belcher, Big Rock, VA, 1-Brother: Vernon Stepp, Wytheville, VA.

Also, survived by 5-Step Children, 12-Grandchildren, 11-Step-Grandchildren and 7-great Grandchildren

She was preceded in death by 2-Sons: Michael Anthony Sutherland-Shane David Sutherland, 4-Sisters: Florene Fields, Juanita Fields, Imogene Caudill & Thelma Dye and 3-Brothers: Herman Moore, Jay Mosley and Wayne Stepp.

Funeral Services for JEANNETTE STEPP SUTHERLAND AKERS will be conducted Sunday, July 15, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at the House of Prayer Church, Big Rock, VA with Revs. Raymond Lester, Paul O’Quinn and Giles Wilson officiating with burial to follow in the Frazier Creek Cemetery near Harold, KY

Friends may call at the House of Prayer Church Friday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with services Friday and Saturday evening at 7:00 P.M.
