JIMMY EDWARD KEEN, 77 years of age of the Leemaster area of Vansant, VA, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2010 at his home following an extended illness. Born in Pike County, KY, he was the son of the late Garl and Sally Sanson Keen. He was a resident of Buchanan County most of his life and was a member of the Victory Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and was a former employee of Island Creek Coal Company and Consolidated Coal Corporation. He was a member of the UMWA Local Union 1640. 

Mr. Keen is survived by his wife Emma Jean Looney Keen, Vansant, VA; 2-Daughters: Keela Keen, Chesterville, VA, Jennifer Lynn Lester, Abingdon, VA; 1-Son: Jimmy Dean Keen, Vansant, VA; 1-Granddaughter: Sara and husband Shane Skeens, Abingdon, VA; 1-Grandson: Kirkland Tyler Keen, Vansant, VA; 3-Sisters: Bernice Matney, Grundy, VA, Billie Jean and husband Buford Keene, Grundy, VA, Charlotte and husband Earl Compton, Grundy, VA, 2-Brothers: Douglas and wife Sandy Keen, Grundy, VA, Harry and wife Peggy Keen, Grundy, VA. Also, survived by 2-Great-Grandchildren: Isaac and Jacob Skeens; and several Nieces and Nephews.

Mr. Keene was preceded in death by one brother: Leon Keen.

Funeral Services for JIMMY EDWARD KEEN will be conducted Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Larry Ratliff officiating with burial to follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Russell Deel, Donald Conley, Earl Compton, Muncy (Junior) Looney, Keith Kistner and Chris Kistner.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. J.P. Sutherland, Jr., Dr. Quinn, Dr. J.G. Patel, Employees of Total Home Care & Hospice and the Nursing Staff of Heritage Hall Nursing Home.
