JOEY PALMER PUGH, 69 years of age of Urbana, VA, formerly of Buchanan County, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010 following an extended illness. Born in Pike County, KY, he was the son of the late Ed Pugh and Stella Justice Pugh. He was a resident of Buchanan County most of his life prior to moving to Urbana, VA, and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Pugh served in the United States Marine Corps and worked as a Manager for a Warehouse. He was a former Police Officer for the Town of Grundy and was Former Manager of Grundy Drive Inn.

Mr. Pugh is survived by his wife, Susan Addams Pugh, Urbana, VA, 2-Daughters: Melissa Paige and husband Andy Sweeney, Chicago, IL, Amanda Leigh and husband Shawen Worley, Aylett, VA, 2-Sons: James Kelly Pugh, WA, Christopher Pugh, Mechanicsville, VA, 2-Sisters: Judy and husband Ronnie Coleman, Ivanhoe, VA, Connie and husband Larry Meadows, Salem, VA, 3-Half-Sisters: Linda Childress, Grundy, VA, Kathy and husband Joe Ratliff, Vansant, VA, Rhonda Combs, Roanoke, VA, 1-Step-Sister: Glenna Mae and husband Hersel Goff, Newnan, GA, 6-Brothers: Buren and wife Lettie Pugh, Phyllis, KY, Eural and wife Hazel Pugh, Benton, KY, Mickey and wife Zenida Pugh, Atascadero, CA, Charles and wife Mary Pugh, Big Rock, VA, Mancy and wife Rosemary Pugh, Port Orange, FL, Gary and wife Joyce Pugh, Greenville, TN

Also, survived by 3-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his Step-Mother: Thelma Pugh, 2-Brothers: Billy Pugh and Jackie Pugh and 1-Step-Brother: Lowell Ward.

Funeral Services for JOEY PALMER PUGH will be conducted Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 11:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Larry Ratliff officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Joe Ratliff, Adam Ratliff, Brandon Ward, Michael Ratliff, Shawn Meadows, Michael Pugh, Gerald Ward and Eddie Pugh.   

Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Meadows, Ronnie Coleman, Hersel Goff, David Nuckolls, John Stacy and Jimmy Goff.

Full Military Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by members of Childs Gentry Post No. 7360 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
