JOHN A. MATNEY, 78 years of age of Hurley, Virginia, passed away Friday, February 12, 2010 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Kingsport, Tennessee.  Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Harvey and Elsie Blankenship Matney.  He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was of the Holiness Faith. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and was owner/operator of Matney Motors, Hurley, Virginia

Mr. Matney is survived by his wife, Hattie Belcher Matney, Hurley, VA, 1-Daughter: Sandra Kay Matney and special friend James Arthur Smith, Jr., Hurley, VA, 1-Son: Kenneth and his wife Della Matney, Chicago, IL, 3-Sisters: Kathleen and husband Hershel Walker, Bell Buckle, TN, Wortha Crawford, Cedar Bluff, VA, Ruby Mullins, Swords, Creek, VA, 2-Brothers: Harvey Matney, Jr., Grundy, VA, Teddy Ray Matney, Huntsville, NC

Also, survived by 1-Grandson: Johnny Ray Matney, Chicago, IL, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 1-Sister: Faye Wolford and 3-Brothers: James Matney, Ernest Matney and Henry Matney.

Funeral services for JOHN A. MATNEY will be conducted Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Curtis Stacy officiating with entombment to follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Claypool Hill, VA.

Friends may call at Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Monday afternoon at 4:00 P.M.
