
LAURA RUBY HALE KEEN,
81 years of age of
Vansant, VA, formerly of Waynesburg, KY, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009 at
the Clinch Valley Medical Center, Richlands, VA, following an extended illness.
Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Lilburn and
Ida Mae Vandyke Hale. She was a resident of Buchanan County and was of the
Methodist Faith. She was a Factory Worker for U.S. Shoes. She made her home with
her niece and nephew Pauline and Josh Lockhart and family of Vansant, for the
past 8-Months.
Mrs. Keen was preceded in
death by her husband: Johnny Keen
She is survived by
2-Sisters: Jeanetta and husband Donald Chenault, Chillicothe, OH, Tora Elizabeth
States, Umatilla, FL, 1-Brother: Gordon and wife Alta Hale, Vansant, VA,
2-Sisters-in-Law: Mabel Ann Hale, Sandusky, OH, Evon Hale, Haysi, VA
Also, survived by several
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by
1-Sister: Leah Mae Hale and 3-Brothers: Walter Perry Hale, Charles Muncy Hale
and James Kermit Hale.
Funeral Services for
LAURA RUBY HALE KEEN will be conducted Sunday, May 31, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at
the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Troy Harris, Rev. Edward Tiller and
Honorary Minister Clyde Lambert officiating with burial to follow in the Hale
Cemetery on Big Fox, near Vansant, VA.
Friends may call at the
Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Friday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with services Friday
and Saturday evenings at 7:00 P.M.
Active Pallbearers will be:
Dennis Lockhart, Wesley Hale, Hearl Shortridge, Jerry Hale, Michael Hale and
Jerry Ball.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dr. Kabaria, 4th Floor Skilled Nursing
Staff & All other Nurses of the Clinch Valley Medical Center.
